2025 Ford Mustang GT Specs & Pricing Revealed

Ford's 2025 Mustang GT is launching with a 5.0L V8, a ten-speed automatic, and a fighter jet-inspired digital cockpit. The seventh-generation model aims for global appeal, with an Australian launch price set at $86,990, blending classic American muscle with modern, customizable tech.

The 2025 Ford Mustang GT's 5.0L Coyote V8 engine produces 480 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. An optional active-valve performance exhaust system can increase the horsepower to 486. This power is sent to the rear wheels through either a standard 6-speed manual transmission with rev-matching or an optional 10-speed automatic. Inside the "fighter jet-inspired" cockpit, drivers are met with a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch SYNC 4 touchscreen infotainment system that are integrated into a single curved glass display. The system is powered by the Unreal Engine 3D creation tool, the same software used in many modern video games, to display animated designs and drive-mode-dependent visuals. Standard features also include Track AppsĀ®, which displays performance metrics like G-forces and lap times on the instrument cluster. Ford has positioned the seventh-generation Mustang as a global vehicle, launching in numerous markets beyond North America and Australia. This generation is part of Ford's strategy to continue investing in internal combustion engine vehicles while also dedicating $50 billion to electric vehicles through 2026. The current S650 platform is expected to have an eight-year lifecycle, lasting until at least 2030. For those seeking even higher performance, Ford offers the Dark Horse model with a modified 5.0L V8 that produces 500 horsepower. Beyond that, the track-focused, street-legal Mustang GTD boasts a supercharged 5.2L V8 with an estimated 815 horsepower and a price tag around $325,000. The 2025 model year also marks the Mustang's 60th anniversary, which Ford is celebrating with a limited-edition 60th Anniversary Package. This package, limited to 1,965 units, includes heritage-inspired design elements. While some features like wireless charging are being discontinued for 2025, dual-zone automatic climate control is now standard across all models. In the competitive landscape, the Mustang GT's 480 horsepower V8 outpaces the base engines of rivals like the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger. The interior technology, particularly the large, integrated screens, also offers a more modern experience compared to the smaller touchscreens found in its primary competitors.
