Megan Thee Stallion Broadway Debut
Rap superstar Megan Thee Stallion is set to make her Broadway debut in *Moulin Rouge!*. Her move to theater is expected to draw new audiences and inject fresh energy into the iconic production.
Megan Thee Stallion will take the stage as the first female-identifying performer to play the role of the nightclub impresario Zidler. The character, traditionally named Harold Zidler, was originated on Broadway by Tony Award winner Danny Burstein. Her limited engagement at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre is set for March 24 through May 17, 2026. She will be taking over the role from Bob the Drag Queen, whose run is scheduled to end on March 22. This casting decision comes in the final months of the show's celebrated Broadway run, which is scheduled to conclude on July 26, 2026. The production, which opened in 2019, won 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. While this is her Broadway debut, Megan Thee Stallion is no stranger to musicals, having previously appeared in the A24 film "Dicks: The Musical" and the 2024 movie adaptation of "Mean Girls". The role of Zidler has recently been a popular spot for celebrity guest performers. Before Bob the Drag Queen, Grammy-winning artist Boy George also had limited runs in the part in both 2024 and 2025. Based on Baz Luhrmann's 2001 film, *Moulin Rouge! The Musical* is a jukebox musical featuring a mash-up of over 70 pop songs. The show runs for 2 hours and 35 minutes, including an intermission.
