Frontier recall in Mexico

- Mexico’s Profeco and Nissan Mexicana issued a recall affecting several recent Nissan models, including the Frontier. (milenio.com) - The recall explicitly covers 421 vehicles across the 2025 Kicks, 2025 Sentra, and 2026 Frontier V6 models. (milenio.com) - Separately, Nissan plans a Frontier Pro PHEV for the region with more than 400 hp and about 131 km of electric range. (mdzol.com)

Mexico’s consumer protection agency and Nissan Mexicana have recalled 421 vehicles, including the 2026 Frontier V6, over a door-latch welding defect. (gob.mx) Profeco said the recall covers three nameplates: the 2025 Kicks, 2025 Sentra and 2026 Frontier V6. The agency published the notice on April 21, 2026, and Nissan’s campaign began on March 31, 2026. (gob.mx) The problem is in the buckle on the door striker plate, where a weld may be weak. Profeco said the part’s strength could be insufficient and, in some cases, break and allow a door to open. (gob.mx) Nissan said it will replace all four door striker plates at no cost to owners. The company said it will contact customers by phone, email, text message or letter and also inspect affected vehicles when they arrive for any service visit at authorized dealers. (alertas.gob.mx) The recall remains open until 100% of affected vehicles are repaired. Nissan told Profeco that, as of February 17, 2026, it had no reports of injuries or damage tied to this defect. (gob.mx) For owners, the practical step is to check the vehicle identification number, or VIN, through Nissan México’s recall page or call 800 9 NISSAN. Nissan says recall repairs at authorized distributors are free, and its site says many campaigns typically take one to two hours, depending on the model. (nissan.com.mx) The Frontier name is also expanding in the region beyond this recall. Nissan México is already marketing the Frontier as a 2026 model, while the company’s regional lineup is adding newer electrified pickup plans under the same badge family. (nissan.com.mx) The immediate issue, though, is narrower: 421 recent-model Nissan vehicles in Mexico need a hardware swap on all four doors. Until that repair is done, Profeco is treating the campaign as active. (gob.mx)
