Colorado resorts closing early

Warm spring weather is forcing early shutdowns in the Rockies: Beaver Creek confirmed it will close Sunday, March 29 — about two weeks earlier than planned (vaildaily.com) (kunc.org). Resorts across Colorado are adjusting calendars or omitting fixed closing dates as they respond to low snow this season (kunc.org).

Several major Colorado resorts are leaving season-end dates as "TBD," including Winter Park, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Loveland and Arapahoe Basin. (kunc.org) Some operators that have set new dates moved them into April: Buttermilk and Keystone are slated to close April 5, Snowmass April 11, Aspen Highlands and Steamboat Resort April 12, and Aspen Mountain and Vail Mountain April 19. (kunc.org) Smaller ski areas have already shut for the season — Ski Cooper closed on March 22, and Sunlight Mountain and Howelsen Hill announced late‑March closures as well. (denver7.com) Copper Mountain announced an April 26 closing date this year, several weeks earlier than its May 11 closing in 2025. (coloradopolitics.com) Statewide snowpack this winter tracked well below average and a March heat wave produced record warm readings in parts of Colorado, driving operators to curtail lift operations and compress the season. (denverpost.com) At least one resort has announced customer protections tied to early shutdowns: Ski Cooper said it will refund lift tickets, lessons and rentals purchased for dates beyond its March 22 closing.
