Amazon CEO: AI could double AWS

Amazon's CEO told Reuters he expects AI to double prior AWS sales projections to about $600 billion by 2036 — a massive top‑line lift baked into cloud strategy. That projection adds urgency to cloud providers pushing custom inference stacks and premium agent services across enterprises. (reuters.com)

((aboutamazon.com)) Management reported an AWS annualized revenue run‑rate of roughly $142 billion and an AWS services backlog of $244 billion, up about 40% year‑over‑year. ((fool.com)) Amazon set 2026 capital expenditures at roughly $200 billion and told investors most of that spend will fund AWS data centers and expand power/capacity, with plans to roughly double power capacity by the end of 2027. ((cnbc.com)) The company disclosed its in‑house chips (Trainium plus Graviton) now exceed a $10 billion annual revenue run rate, and said Trainium2 is fully subscribed with about 1.4 million chips deployed powering the majority of Bedrock inference. ((ir.aboutamazon.com)) AWS has pushed productized agent tooling—Amazon Bedrock Agents and Bedrock AgentCore—with enterprise features for agent identity, memory, tool integration and observability to run multi‑agent systems at scale. ((aws.amazon.com)) The Q4 disclosures on capex, backlog and chip run‑rates came alongside investor concern that sent shares lower after hours, even as AWS posted its fastest growth in 13 quarters.
