Lindy West's *Adult Braces* chronicles her emotional recovery after her book *Shrill* and the subsequent Hulu series made her a public figure. West felt she wasn't the "self-actualized woman" that fans perceived. The memoir follows her cross-country road trip as she grappled with depression and redefined her marriage. Fab 5 Freddy's *Everybody's Fly*, co-written with Mark Rozzo, recounts his role in shaping hip-hop and art culture in New York. Kirkus Reviews called it "a fine snapshot of a pivotal moment for street—and American—culture". Freddy helped move graffiti from subway tags to fine art and connected Jean-Michel Basquiat with the downtown new wave scene. Jesse Crosson's *The Best Part of Prison* details his transformation while serving a 32-year sentence for robbery and a non-fatal shooting. Crosson, sentenced to nearly twice the recommended guidelines, found redemption in prison. The book explores the failures of the rehabilitation system and Crosson's work with the Second Chancer Foundation. Jamilah Lemieux's *Black. Single. Mother.* combines personal essays with interviews of Black single mothers. Lemieux, a cultural critic, examines the stigmas and realities of Black single motherhood. The book includes 21 first-person testimonies and aims to inspire a new dialogue about the value of Black mothers.
