Warframe Gets Nintendo Switch 2 Launch
Warframe launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on March 25 alongside "The Shadowgrapher" update featuring new character Follie with Photoshop-like creative abilities. Players logging in between March 25-April 15 get exclusive gear including the Vericres Warfan weapon and Akomeogi fans.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version of *Warframe* will see significant technical upgrades over its predecessor, targeting a stable 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second in both handheld and docked modes. This marks a substantial improvement from the original Switch version, which often ran between 20-30 fps with a dynamic resolution that could drop below 720p to maintain performance. The new hardware also allows for faster load times, higher-resolution textures, and improved shader quality. A new feature exclusive to the Switch 2 is the "Mouse Mode," which utilizes the right Joy-Con 2 for more precise aiming and menu navigation, mimicking mouse controls. Developer Digital Extremes had expressed excitement about developing for the new console, having waited for development kits to begin creating a version that could take full advantage of the upgraded hardware. The accompanying "The Shadowgrapher" update introduces the 64th Warframe, Follie, an artist-themed character with ink-based abilities. Her most notable skill, "Shadowgraph," allows her to open a sketchbook via a radial menu and manifest one of 14 different objects into the game world, including explosive barrels, life support capsules, and even keys for Disruption missions. Follie's other abilities include "Forced Perspective," a teleportation move that cleanses status effects and grants brief invulnerability, and "Self Portrait," which creates a clone that increases her damage resistance. Her passive ability covers enemies in ink, slowing them and causing them to drop health or energy orbs upon death. The update also brings a new 4v1 asymmetric game mode called "Follie's Hunt," where four players must complete objectives while being stalked by a player-controlled Follie. This mode is set on the destroyed Vesper Relay, a location central to the update's narrative, which explores the aftermath of the Perita Rebellion. The free Vericres Warfan was previously available as a Twitch drop for watching TennoCon 2022. It's a Mastery Rank 8 melee weapon that deals primarily Slash damage and has a high critical chance. The Akomeogi is a skin for the warfan, its name referencing Japanese folding fans from the Heian period. Coinciding with the launch is *Warframe's* 13th anniversary, with an in-game event beginning on March 13. The "Shadowgrapher" update also includes new cosmetic options for Mods called Atragraphs, quality-of-life improvements, and new deluxe skins for the Warframes Gauss and Grendel.
