LeBron Breaks NBA Field Goals Record

LeBron James shattered Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's NBA record for most career field goals made, marking another milestone in his legendary career. The achievement comes as James continues to defy age expectations in his 22nd NBA season. This adds to his already-held record for most career points scored.

The record-breaking shot occurred on March 5, 2026, during a 120-113 loss to the Denver Nuggets. With about 12 seconds left in the first quarter, James hit a turnaround baseline jumper over Zeke Nnaji to secure his 15,838th career field goal. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record of 15,837 made field goals had stood since his retirement in 1989. The two legends are now first and second on the all-time list, with Karl Malone sitting at a distant third with 13,528 career field goals. This field goal record is another addition to James' extensive collection of all-time marks, which includes most career points, most minutes played, most All-Star selections, and most playoff wins. He surpassed Abdul-Jabbar for the all-time scoring record in February 2023. In his 23rd NBA season, James's longevity is a key factor in his record-breaking career. By the end of the game against the Nuggets, he had pushed his new record to 15,842 made field goals. Interestingly, James also holds the record for the most career field goal attempts. This volume of shooting has also led to him holding the record for the most missed field goals in NBA history.
