Who are some of the featured choreographers at the NEW WORKS Festival?
Lenora Lee Dance (LLD) is hosting its inaugural New Works Festival as part of its 18th anniversary. The festival amplifies the unique intercultural perspectives of the choreographers. Featured choreographers include Lynn Huang, Amber Julian, Flora Hyoin Kim (NYC), SanSan Kwan, Lenora Lee & Moyra Silva Rodríguez (London / Lima), Johnny Huy Nguyễn, Catalina O'Connor, and dazaun soleyn. Their works bridge past and present, exploring family histories, cultural inheritance, and healing from generational trauma. Lenora Lee Dance was founded in 2008 by dancer, choreographer, and performer Lenora Lee. The company creates multimedia immersive works addressing issues like immigration, global conflict, and human rights. LLD's performances often integrate contemporary dance, film, music, and research. Past works have explored the Chinese American narrative, including immigration stories from Angel Island. The company often collaborates with community organizations and explores site-specific locations for performances. Other Bay Area dance events to look forward to include Bay Area Dance Week from April 24 - May 3, 2026. Dance Mission Theater, where the New Works Festival will take place, also hosts a Spring Choreographers Showcase.
