Servpac Breaks Ground on Data Center Expansion

Servpac has broken ground on an expansion of its MTP Data Center in Mililani Technology Park, Hawaii. The new building will add over 15,500 square feet and more than double the facility's capacity to serve local enterprise and government clients.

- The new building represents a $13 million investment and is being constructed on an additional 5 acres of company-owned land. This expansion is expected to create approximately 150 temporary construction jobs and at least 15 permanent positions. - Servpac's MTP Data Center is the only Uptime Institute certified Tier IV data center in Hawaii, the highest level of availability and resilience. This certification signifies a fault-tolerant design, ensuring that a failure of any single piece of equipment or distribution path will not impact critical IT operations. - The facility is strategically located in Mililani Technology Park, 850 feet above sea level and 10 miles inland, placing it outside of major flood and tsunami evacuation zones and making it a key site for disaster recovery and business continuity. - As a carrier-neutral facility, the data center offers clients access to multiple network providers, including Servpac's own dedicated fiber network, fostering a competitive connectivity ecosystem. - The expansion is part of a broader trend of growth in Hawaii's data center market, which serves as a critical interconnection hub between the U.S. mainland and the Asia-Pacific region. Another major player, DRFortress, was recently acquired by 1547 Critical Systems Realty and has also been expanding its capacity. - The Mililani Technology Park is a designated Foreign-Trade Zone and Enterprise Zone, offering potential economic incentives for tenants. It hosts a variety of technology and service-based companies. - This expansion follows a previous project in 2023 that also doubled the colocation capacity, indicating a rapid and sustained demand for data center services in the region. - Servpac, a locally owned company, provides a suite of services beyond colocation, including cloud computing, fiber internet, and VoIP business phones, positioning itself as an all-in-one provider for Hawaiian businesses.
