With St. Patrick’s Day coming up, McDonald’s Shamrock Shake is back in select locations []. Other chains like Krispy Kreme, Benihana, Raising Cane’s, and Red Robin are also offering green-themed food and freebies [ ].
The Shamrock Shake, a mint-flavored milkshake, was first created in 1967 by Hal Rosen, a McDonald's owner in Connecticut, and debuted in select locations in 1970. Early versions of the shake had a lemon-lime flavor, but the recipe was changed to a green-colored vanilla shake in 1973, and mint syrup was added in 1983. In 2012, the Shamrock Shake was released nationwide for the first time. Krispy Kreme is offering a St. Patrick's Day collection of donuts, including the Shooting Shamrock, Over the Rainbow, Plaid Party, and Chocolate Iced with St. Patrick's Sprinkles donuts. Customers who wear green to Krispy Kreme on March 16 and 17 can receive a free Green O'riginal Glazed donut. Additionally, 4,000 people will win a "Lucky You Golden Dozen Pass," which provides one free dozen Original Glazed donuts per month from April 2026 through March 2027. Other deals for St. Patrick's Day 2026 include scratch-off rewards at Benihana, a free pastry with a beverage purchase for PB Rewards members at Paris Baguette, and discounted Irish staples at Amazon. Raising Cane's Caniac Club members can unlock "Lucky Swipes" for prizes and a chance to win free Cane's for a year, and they are also offering Leprechaun Lemonade. Applebee's has the $6 Emerald Escape cocktail and $4 Parade Punch mocktail.
