Idris Elba Partners with Nas

Idris Elba's 7Wallace label has entered a partnership with Nas' Mass Appeal Records. The collaboration is expected to yield new projects and amplify Elba's influence in music production and artist development, adding another layer to hip-hop entrepreneurship.

This new strategic alliance builds on a previous collaboration between the two labels in 2025 on Slick Rick's first album in 25 years, "VICTORY". The project was executive produced by Idris Elba and Slick Rick, and included a 30-minute visual companion directed by Meji Alabi. The partnership is set to include co-releases, cross-market distribution, and collaborative original content at the intersection of music and film. It aims to create a bridge between the UK and US hip-hop scenes, with "big release announcements" expected to be forthcoming. Idris Elba founded 7Wallace in 2015, with a focus on breaking boundaries in dance and hip-hop. The label has released music from artists like Little Simz, Q-Tip, and Cypress Hill. Elba himself has a long history as a DJ, performing under the name "Big Driis" since his teenage years and playing major events like Coachella and Glastonbury. Mass Appeal Records was co-founded by Nas in 2014 as the music division of his larger media company. The label has released albums for notable artists such as Run the Jewels, DJ Shadow, and Dave East, as well as posthumous projects from J Dilla. More recently, Mass Appeal launched the "Legend Has It..." series, featuring new albums from iconic acts like De La Soul, Mobb Deep, and Ghostface Killah.
