Eternal and OpenAI Announce Strategic Partnership

Eternal, the parent company of Zomato and Blinkit, has announced a sweeping strategic collaboration with OpenAI. The partnership aims to embed advanced AI across Eternal's consumer and enterprise platforms to create an "AI-native" commerce ecosystem.

- This strategic collaboration extends across all of Eternal's platforms, including Zomato, Blinkit, the B2B supply chain platform Hyperpure, and the AI-native venture, Nugget. The partnership aims to utilize OpenAI's Enterprise API and latest models, such as GPT-5.3-Codex, to enhance various aspects of their operations. - For customers, the collaboration will focus on creating next-generation search and discovery interfaces, offering a more intuitive and personalized experience. On the partner side, the goal is to provide AI-assisted workflows and contextual AI assistants for merchants and delivery partners, aiming to improve operational efficiency and decision-making. - Internally, Eternal plans to integrate OpenAI's advanced coding models into its in-house developer orchestration and automation platform, known as "Stitch". This is expected to accelerate software development, automate complex workflows, and reduce manual tasks for engineering teams. - According to Albinder Dhindsa, Group CEO of Eternal, the partnership will allow the company to experiment with AI's evolving applications in both software development and on-the-ground operations, opening up more opportunities for learning and innovation. - A key component of the collaboration is a structured Partner Upskilling Program. This initiative is designed to promote the adoption of AI across Eternal's restaurant and delivery partner ecosystem by deploying advanced AI tools and assistants within partner applications to support efficiency, compliance, and business decisions. - The partnership also aims to accelerate product development and iteration cycles for Eternal's AI-native venture, Nugget, by leveraging OpenAI's models in select use cases. This signals a broader strategy to embed AI as a foundational element of their commerce infrastructure. - The move is part of a larger trend in India's digital commerce sector to integrate AI more deeply into customer-facing and internal operations. For Eternal, this collaboration is a significant step towards building a scalable, AI-first commerce ecosystem. - This partnership follows Eternal's earlier initiatives to utilize AI for enhancing customer experiences, such as personalized search and notifications, and for backend tools related to product photography and customer support. The collaboration with OpenAI is set to expand and strengthen these existing AI capabilities across the entire organization.
