Gordon Ramsay Opens Cheshire Restaurant

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is set to open a new restaurant in Cheshire, UK, within a luxury hotel. The venue will bring world-class dining to a newly transformed location, expanding Ramsay's restaurant empire. This marks another high-profile fine dining establishment from one of the world's most recognizable celebrity chefs.

The new restaurant, named Gordon Ramsay at The Mere, is part of a multi-million pound refurbishment of the historic Mere resort in Knutsford. The hotel is being rebranded as Fairmont Cheshire, The Mere, making it the fifth UK location for the luxury Fairmont brand. The entire 157-acre resort, which includes an 18-hole golf course, was purchased in 2022 by the Dubai-based developer Select Group. This opening marks Ramsay's first fine-dining establishment outside of London in over two decades. His last venture of this kind was Amaryllis in Scotland, which closed in 2004. The new Cheshire location is described as a "refined dining experience" with a concept specifically designed for the resort setting. The partnership with Fairmont extends a long-standing relationship, as Ramsay already operates three restaurants at Fairmont's Savoy hotel in London. These include the Savoy Grill, the River Restaurant, and the Michelin-starred Restaurant 1890. The Cheshire restaurant is a significant addition to Ramsay's global empire, which is approaching 100 restaurants. The Gordon Ramsay Restaurants group, founded in 1998, currently holds a total of nine Michelin stars worldwide. The flagship, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in London, has maintained three Michelin stars for more than 20 years.
