Huawei Pushes AI-Ready Infrastructure
At MWC 2026, Huawei unveiled a suite of products aimed at AI-era enterprises, including new high-performance firewalls and an updated AI networking fabric. The launches signal a strategic focus on providing the underlying hardware for what the company calls the move toward "full intelligence."
The company's "full intelligence" push is part of a larger strategic vision for what it calls the "agentic internet era." Huawei's Senior Vice President, Li Peng, framed this shift away from the traditional mobile internet as a potential ten-trillion-dollar opportunity for telecom carriers, moving from connecting people to connecting billions of intelligent agents. A core component of this strategy is the new SuperPoD computing architecture, unveiled globally for the first time. The Atlas 950 SuperPoD for AI can scale up to 8,192 NPUs, designed for training massive, trillion-parameter models. For general tasks, the company introduced what it calls the industry's first general-purpose TaiShan 950 SuperPoD. The new HiSecEngine USG6000G series firewalls incorporate on-device AI for real-time security threats. Huawei claims these gateways can detect 95% of unknown threats—a rate 15% higher than the industry average—and can block novel phishing attacks within milliseconds. These hardware launches are built on a network foundation dubbed "Net5.5G." According to Bob Chen, President of Huawei's Optical Business Product Line, the goal is to create "latency-centric" all-optical networks to meet the demands of AI applications, with latency targets of 1ms for metro networks. Beyond hardware, Huawei is advancing toward Level 4 autonomous networks with a suite of AI-native operational tools. New solutions like Agentic BSS and AUTINOps use AI agents and digital twins to automate network management, aiming to proactively identify and eliminate potential failures before they occur.
