TECNO Unveils AI-Powered Smartphone at MWC
At MWC 2026 in Barcelona, tech brand TECNO is set to unveil its new flagship CAMON 50 smartphone series. The launch is centered on AI-driven imaging capabilities and a broader ecosystem of interconnected AI products.
The new CAMON 50 series is powered by a MediaTek Helio G200 processor and features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. Both the standard and Pro models are equipped with a 6,150mAh battery and support 45W wired charging. The main camera on both phones is a 50-megapixel Sony LYT700C sensor, the same one used in the previous CAMON 40 Pro. The key differentiator for the CAMON 50 Pro is its triple rear camera system, which adds a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and optical image stabilization. This enables features like an AI-powered 60x superzoom mode. The standard CAMON 50 model forgoes the periscope lens, featuring the 50MP main sensor alongside an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera. TECNO's upgraded Ella AI assistant, running on the new HiOS 16, gains more contextual understanding. New capabilities include summarizing YouTube videos, reading and replying to WhatsApp messages, and presenting information through dynamic island-style experiences. The company's "Practical AI" strategy focuses on localization, with improved support for languages like Hausa and various Arabic dialects, as well as offline functionality for English and French. The broader AI ecosystem is connected through the updated OneLeap platform, designed for seamless data transfer and task management between TECNO devices like phones, tablets, and laptops. This ecosystem includes new AI-enhanced smart wearables and the MEGABOOK laptop portfolio. A major highlight of the MWC event is the announcement of a partnership with Tonino Lamborghini. This collaboration has resulted in co-created products, including the Tonino Lamborghini TECNO TAURUS (MEGA MINI G1 Pro) gaming mini-PC and a POVA Metal Tonino Lamborghini Limited Edition smartphone. Beyond the Lamborghini collaboration, TECNO is also showcasing future design concepts. Among the anticipated reveals is a teased ultra-slim modular smartphone, signaling the company's exploration of new form factors and interaction methods for future devices.
