Alisa Weilerstein's UK premiere of Gabriela Ortiz's Cello Concerto *Dzonot* with Philharmonia Orchestra starts March 11 in Canterbury https://x.com/i/status/2031053364901917040.
The *Dzonot* concerto was commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Gulbenkian Orchestra, and Radio France. It premiered in 2023 with the Los Angeles Philharmonic under Gustavo Dudamel. Ortiz's *Dzonot* is inspired by the cenotes (sinkholes) of the Yucatán Peninsula, sacred to the Mayan people. The music evokes the sounds and atmosphere of these natural wonders. Weilerstein is also scheduled to perform the UK premiere in other cities. These include Bedford on March 13, Leicester on March 14, and London on March 17.
