Darkwave Single Drops

This Empty Daylight is the darkwave solo project of Los Angeles-based musician and poet Constant Williams, who performs under the name Casket Cassette. The name itself is rooted in a poignant family memory: Williams' father recorded a live song onto a cassette and placed it in his grandfather's casket. This blend of personal history and somber themes permeates his work. "Kiss Me Awake" is the lead single from Casket Cassette's forthcoming third studio album, titled "REDUCER," which is slated for a June 2026 release. The track was mixed by Matia Simovich, known for his work with the band Lust for Youth, and mastered by Stefan Brown at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. The song's sound is compared to the atmospheric gloom of Depeche Mode and Clan of Xymox. Lyrically, "Kiss Me Awake" delves into themes of dependency, confusion, and the desperate hope that another person can salvage a deteriorating situation. Williams, who holds an MFA in Poetry from the Iowa Writers' Workshop, infuses his songwriting with a literary depth that explores mental health, loss, and heartbreak with glimmers of hope. His family's loss of their home in the recent Los Angeles fires adds another layer of poignancy to the track's themes of ruin and aftermath. Casket Cassette has a series of live performances scheduled to support the new music. The project was an official artist at SXSW in 2026 and will make its debut at the Wave Gotik Treffen festival in Germany this May. Additional shows are scheduled in Southern California and a special headline performance at The Paramount in Los Angeles on April 3, 2026.
