Equinix launches Fabric Intelligence
Equinix previewed Fabric Intelligence, an AI‑native operational layer for automating and optimising multi‑cloud, data‑centre and edge networking with components such as Fabric Super Agent and Fabric Insights. The product is being shown ahead of Google Cloud Next and is positioned for AI workloads that span clouds and edges. (stocktitan.net)
Equinix said on April 15 that it is previewing Fabric Intelligence, a software layer that uses artificial intelligence to run network connections for cloud, data center and edge computing workloads. (equinix.com) The company said the product is available now in preview and will be demonstrated at Google Cloud Next, which runs April 22-24, 2026, in Las Vegas. (equinix.com) (googlecloudevents.com) Equinix is pitching the software at companies building artificial intelligence systems across more than one cloud and more than one location. Those workloads often move data between private facilities, public clouds and edge sites closer to users. (equinix.com) The basic problem is network operations still rely on manual setup, long deployment cycles and fragmented monitoring tools. Equinix said Fabric Intelligence is meant to automate how those links are created, tuned and maintained as traffic shifts. (equinix.com) One part, Fabric Super Agent, lets users make requests in plain language through Slack, Microsoft Teams or the Equinix customer portal instead of working through interfaces and application programming interfaces. Equinix said it can cut deployment timelines from weeks to minutes. (equinix.com) (sdxcentral.com) Another part, Fabric Insights, watches live network telemetry, looks for anomalies and connects with security information and event management tools including Splunk and Datadog. Equinix said the feature also works with Fabric Super Agent. (equinix.com) The launch builds on Equinix's broader push to sell infrastructure for distributed artificial intelligence. In October 2025, the company introduced Distributed AI Hub, with Fabric Intelligence described at the time as a software layer for real-time awareness and automation across artificial intelligence and multi-cloud workloads. (prnewswire.com) Equinix said the new offering sits on top of a network footprint that spans more than 280 data centers in 77 metros, and on its Fabric service base of more than 4,400 customers. Those numbers show why the company is framing the product as an operating layer rather than a single networking feature. (stocktitan.net) Jim Frey, a principal analyst at Omdia quoted in Equinix's release, said manual network monitoring and management are hard to scale as artificial intelligence adoption rises. The immediate test is whether customers at Google Cloud Next treat Fabric Intelligence as a faster way to run complex network estates, not just another dashboard. (equinix.com)
