J. Cole Fights Cam'ron Lawsuit

J. Cole is pushing back against Cam'ron's $500,000 lawsuit over their "Ready '24" collaboration, asking a judge to dismiss the case. Cole maintains he met all obligations related to the project. The legal dispute between the two rap veterans is drawing significant attention across hip-hop media.

- At the core of the dispute is an alleged verbal agreement for a "verse swap," where Cam'ron claims J. Cole was to either provide a verse for a future Cam'ron track or appear on his podcast, "It Is What It Is." - J. Cole's legal team refutes this, stating in a court filing that Cam'ron contributed to the track "voluntarily and without condition" and only began demanding "unreasonable conditions" after the song's release. - The song, "Ready '24," was recorded in 2022 but released on J. Cole's April 2024 mixtape, "Might Delete Later." - Cam'ron's lawsuit, filed in October 2025, alleges he hasn't been properly compensated and is not credited on the actual sound recording, only as a co-author of the composition. - In addition to seeking at least $500,000 in damages, Cam'ron is asking the court to officially declare him a co-author of the sound recording and order an accounting of the track's earnings from Universal Music Group, who is also named as a co-defendant. - In his formal response to the lawsuit, J. Cole denies all allegations and has requested that a judge dismiss the case in its entirety with prejudice. - Cam'ron publicly stated that he recorded his verse for J. Cole in about "20 minutes" and feels particularly wronged because of the quick turnaround he provided. - According to the lawsuit, Cam'ron attempted to coordinate the reciprocal collaboration or podcast appearance with Cole from July 2023 to April 2024, but claims Cole repeatedly said he was unavailable.
