Anthropic Enters Wealth Management with AI Tools

Anthropic's push into wealth management is part of a much broader enterprise assault. The new "Claude CoWork" plugins also target HR, engineering, design, and operations, signaling a strategy to embed AI agents within the core workflows of every corporate department. This strategy hinges on "agentic AI," which differs from reactive chatbots by planning and executing multi-step tasks autonomously to achieve a goal. It's a pattern gaining rapid traction; Gartner projects that by 2028, 33% of all enterprise software applications will incorporate agentic AI, up from less than 1% in 2024. For financial advisors, these agents can perform automated portfolio and tax analysis, make rebalancing recommendations, and even execute trades. Anthropic is already working with major industry players like LPL Financial, which is integrating the new capabilities for its network of over 30,000 advisors. This vertical-specific product strategy is backed by massive capital. The company raised $30 billion in a February 2026 funding round, bringing its valuation to $380 billion with backing from Amazon, Google, GIC, and Coatue. Annualized revenue has hit $14 billion, growing more than tenfold in each of the past three years. The playbook directly parallels AI's transformation of HR tech. While wealth agents analyze portfolios, platforms like Payscale and Beqom already use AI to conduct pay equity analysis, benchmark compensation against real-time market data, and generate personalized benefits recommendations. The technical execution relies on deep integration. The CoWork plugins connect Claude to essential data sources financial teams already use, such as FactSet and MSCI. The agent can then orchestrate tasks across multiple applications, for instance, pulling data, updating a model in Excel, and creating a summary slide in PowerPoint as a single, continuous workflow.
