Immersive Cosm Venue in Cleveland Gets Final Approval
The planned Cosm immersive entertainment venue in downtown Cleveland has received final design approval from the city's planning commission. Cosm's venues are designed to blend large-scale sports, music, and gaming events with advanced digital and AR overlays, creating a new category of location-based entertainment.
- The Cleveland venue will be Cosm's fifth, joining locations in Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, and Detroit. It is scheduled to open in the first half of 2027. - The project is an anchor for Bedrock's "Rock Block" mixed-use development in the downtown Gateway District, located near the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse and Progressive Field. Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2026. - The venue will feature an 87-foot diameter, 12K+ resolution LED dome to present live sports and entertainment in what Cosm calls "Shared Reality." The Cleveland location is expected to be the company's largest facility to date. - The 64,000-square-foot, three-story venue is expected to create around 300 full-time jobs and attract an estimated 500,000 visitors annually. - Cosm was founded in 2020 through the merger of several technology and immersive content companies, including Evans & Sutherland, a pioneer in computer graphics and planetarium technology. - The company has established partnerships with major sports leagues and broadcasters, including the NBA, UFC, ESPN, and TNT Sports, to show live events in its venues. - Dan Gilbert, owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, is a key investor in Cosm through his real estate firm Bedrock and investment company ROCK, which contributed to a $250 million funding round in 2024. - Programming at the venue will include live sports, immersive art, music, and other entertainment, with the capacity for up to seven different presentations on a single weekend day.
