Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Final Season
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will host their final ranked battle season as the current generation winds down. This season follows the recent announcement of the next mainline game, "Pokémon Winds & Waves," marking a transition period for competitive players.
The final competitive season for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is officially designated as Season 41, set to begin on April 1, 2026. This marks the conclusion of a competitive cycle that has seen monthly updates and rotations for roughly three and a half years since the games' launch in November 2022. With the start of this final season, The Pokémon Company will no longer update the ranked battle ladder. This means there will be no more monthly rankings announced, and players will no longer receive rewards based on their final competitive placements. While official updates are ending, the online battle functionality is not being shut down. Players can continue to participate in ranked battles indefinitely, but they will operate under a static ruleset without the incentive of seasonal rewards or leaderboard progression. This perpetual final season will use the rules of Regulation Set I. This set allows for a wide range of Pokémon available in Scarlet and Violet, including those transferred via Pokémon HOME, with the standard restrictions on certain Mythical and Legendary Pokémon. The conclusion of the competitive circuit for Generation 9 paves the way for the next installment. The new games, "Pokémon Winds & Waves," were officially unveiled during a Pokémon Presents presentation on February 27, 2026, which coincided with the franchise's 30th anniversary. "Pokémon Winds & Waves" will mark the beginning of the 10th generation of Pokémon and is scheduled for a global release in 2027. These new titles will be developed by Game Freak and will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2. The upcoming games are set in a tropical region composed of various islands and will introduce a new trio of starter Pokémon: the Grass-type Browt, the Fire-type Pombon, and the Water-type Gecqua.
