Isembard Raises $50M to Onshore Defense Manufacturing

UK startup Isembard raised $50M Series A to onshore manufacturing for defense/robotics clients like Anduril. They are using AI software MasonOS for 25 new factories.

Isembard, founded in late 2024, previously raised $9M in April 2025. The new funding will support opening 25 AI-powered factories by the end of 2026 and expansion into Germany, France, and Ukraine. Union Square Ventures led the Series A round, with participation from Tamarack Global, IQ Capital, Notion Capital and CIV. Isembard's AI platform, MasonOS, integrates quoting, scheduling, supply chain, manufacturing, quality control, and delivery. MasonOS aims to increase factory throughput by 40-60% and lower operating costs by 30%. The platform is certified for aerospace, defense, and security standards including AS9100, ISO 9001, ITAR, Cyber Essentials, and JOSCAR. The UK is increasing its focus on defense manufacturing, with the government planning to spend £1.5 billion on building six munitions factories. The UK defense industry's turnover totaled approximately $35 billion in 2023, with $12 billion exported. Isembard's CEO Alexander Fitzgerald noted the importance of local supply chains for UK defense programs. Anduril, one of Isembard's clients, develops autonomous systems, including UAS and counter-UAS systems, with a focus on AI and robotics. Anduril's systems are powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system. Anduril is building a $1 billion manufacturing facility in Ohio to produce weapons systems.
