RHS adds Blooming Borders

The RHS Malvern Spring Festival added a new 'Blooming Borders' prize that spotlights upcycled/recycled materials, aquascapes, terrariums and living walls — a clear nudge toward indoor greenery and reuse in garden design RHS prize.

The RHS Malvern Spring Festival is scheduled for 7–10 May 2026 at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern [show times and venue]. (rhs.org.uk) The new Blooming Borders category is a planting‑design feature positioned at the entrance to the Show Garden area as an expansive planted walkway, according to the RHS exhibitor factsheet. (rhs.org.uk) Successful Blooming Borders entrants are awarded a grant of £1,500 (ex VAT) paid 50% before the Festival and 50% after breakdown, per the RHS application factsheet. (rhs.org.uk) The application deadline for Blooming Borders was listed as Friday 29 August 2025 on the RHS factsheet for exhibitors. (rhs.org.uk) All judged gardens at Malvern are eligible for RHS medals, and the show’s awards page confirms a People’s Choice category that includes “People’s Choice Best Blooming Border.” (rhs.org.uk) The RHS‑judged Indoor Plant Gardens return for 2026 with exhibits named Dibley’s Houseplant Sanctuary, The Science of Sustenance, Back to Grandma’s House and The Scholar’s Jungle on the festival programme. (rhsmalvern.co.uk) RHS listings credit designers Alina Hibbert and Adam Critien for Back to Grandma’s House, note sponsorship by Jeffrey Ross, and state the display contains approximately 150–200 plants supplied by Plant.Studio, Terrarium Hut and Mondo Exotica. (rhs.org.uk) The Festival will also introduce Floral Tablescaping as a new feature and carries the theme “Roots of the Future” across its 2026 programme, as announced by RHS and industry coverage.
