Fremont Creates is turning Fremont’s Downtown Event Center into a one-day art hub on Sunday, April 26, with a makerspace, workshops and a public market. (tricityvoice.com) The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fremont Downtown Event Center, also called DTEC, and organizers say more than 20 local artists will sell work directly to shoppers. (tricityvoice.com) Fremont Creates says the April 26 lineup also includes its returning makerspace for kids of all ages and two new hands-on art workshops for adults age 15 and older. (fremontcreates.com) The April 26 program is scheduled as the closing event for April is Arts, Culture and Creativity Month, a statewide observance that Fremont Creates has used to bundle local arts events across the city. (tricityvoice.com) Tri-City Voice reported that Fremont’s local version of the month did not fully get underway until 2023 after earlier city recognition and pandemic delays, and that the program expanded in 2024 with a free finale at the Downtown Event Center. (tricityvoice.com) This year’s April 26 event adds a first-time Artists’ Pop-Up Market to that formula, shifting the finale from a general celebration into a place where artists can also sell work on site. (fremontcreates.com) Organizers have also booked live performances around the market, with Tri-City Voice reporting jazz during the event and outdoor sets by Wadaiko Newark taiko drummers. A separate Fremont Creates notice said the Newark Saxophone Quartet is also part of the day. (tricityvoice.com 1) (tricityvoice.com 2) For artists, Fremont Creates opened registration for vendor spots with a $50 deposit that the group says will be returned after the event if participation requirements are met. (fremontcreates.com) The weekend is being pitched as a broader downtown arts cluster: the City of Fremont is also planning a free “Downtown Dance” event at DTEC on Saturday, April 25, one day before the market. (tricityvoice.com) If the schedule holds, April’s monthlong arts push will end where Fremont Creates has been steering people all season: downtown, with shopping, hands-on projects and live performances in one place.
