Some systems can operate with water temperatures as high as 40°C, reducing reliance on water-intensive evaporative cooling. While immersion cooling offers energy efficiency, concerns exist regarding water consumption and potential pollution from chemicals used in the cooling process. Managing water usage and focusing on environmentally friendly coolants are crucial for minimizing negative impacts. Single-phase systems use green products with virtually zero global warming potential, unlike some two-phase systems. The immersion cooling market was valued at USD 286.8 million in 2024 and is projected to reach USD 1,006.6 million by 2030. North America held the largest market share in 2024, while Asia Pacific is expected to be the fastest-growing market. Hyperscale data centers are designing greenfield sites specifically for immersion tanks to handle future chip generations exceeding 1000W per package. Immersion cooling is also expanding into edge environments where space is limited and access to chilled water is difficult.
