Pluvo Nabs $5M for Real-Time Finance AI
Pluvo has raised $5 million for its "agentic" finance platform that aims to turn data into real-time, auditable decisions. The funding is another signal of the market's appetite for vertical-specific AI that delivers actionable, decision-ready analytics rather than just dashboards.
The seed round was led by Andreessen Horowitz's a16z speedrun, with participation from Deel, The Perseverance Fund, StandUp Ventures, and AltaIR Capital. Several of Pluvo's own CFO customers also joined the round as strategic angel investors, signaling strong early client validation. The company is led by CEO and co-founder Alex Labrèche, a former financial analyst and professional hockey player. Pluvo was co-founded by Vanessa Galarneau (CFO), who previously led AI-driven finance transformations, and its leadership team also includes COO Seb Fallenbuchl. The company is co-headquartered in Ottawa and San Francisco. Pluvo's platform operates at what it calls the "decision layer," aiming to move beyond simple data dashboards. It uses specialized AI agents to perform tasks like continuous variance analysis, multi-scenario planning, and stress-testing financial models in real-time, delivering structured insights within minutes. The new capital is earmarked for accelerating the development of its agentic analysis engine and scaling its product and engineering teams. Funds will also be used to deepen integrations with common enterprise systems like ERPs, CRMs, and HRIS platforms. This funding highlights a significant trend in venture capital towards vertical AI, where platforms are trained on industry-specific data to solve specialized problems. Unlike general-purpose AI, vertical tools for sectors like finance can offer deeper domain expertise and built-in regulatory compliance awareness. Prior to this funding, Pluvo was an alumnus of the Alchemist Accelerator, a program focused on deep-tech startups. The company was also selected for the a16z speedrun, Andreessen Horowitz's flagship early-stage program, from a pool of over 19,000 applicants.
