Adobe's Firefly AI Expands Generative Toolkit
Adobe is adding generative AI tools to Firefly Image Editor, letting users manipulate color, remove objects, upscale images, and remove backgrounds with conversational prompts reported.
Adobe is rolling out these new Firefly Image Editor features, accessible through conversational prompts, to streamline workflows. This aims to collapse multi-step edits, traditionally requiring several tools, into a single, more fluid process. The updated Firefly Image Editor includes tools like Generative Fill for adding/replacing elements, Generative Remove for object deletion, and Generative Expand for changing aspect ratios. Generative Upscale increases resolution, while Remove Background isolates subjects. Adobe is also launching the public beta of its AI Assistant tool for Photoshop on web and mobile. Users can input "Do it for me" prompts to make changes like object removal, background alterations, lighting tweaks or color adjustments. Voice commands are even supported on mobile. Firefly offers access to over 25 AI models, including Adobe's own and partner models from Google, OpenAI, Runway, and Black Forest Labs. This multi-model approach lets users choose the AI system that best fits their creative needs. These updates target a wide range of users, from students to marketing teams, aiming to reduce manual work through clearer in-app guidance. AI Markup in Photoshop web allows users to draw on an image and pair the selection with a text prompt to control where changes are applied.
