Popular Sitcom Among Titles Leaving Netflix

A "hugely re-watched sitcom" and several popular movies are scheduled to be removed from Netflix in March 2026. The removals are due to expiring licensing deals, a common practice for streaming services cycling their content libraries.

The cult comedy series *Arrested Development* is the prominent sitcom slated to depart Netflix on March 15, 2026. This removal is contingent on the renewal of a licensing agreement between Netflix and Disney, which owns the show's production company, 20th Television. Netflix originally revived *Arrested Development* in 2013 after its cancellation by Fox, making it a "Netflix Original" for its fourth and fifth seasons. This exclusive status makes its potential departure noteworthy, as the platform typically retains its original programming. Another sitcom, *The Hughleys*, which aired from 1998 to 2002, is also scheduled to leave the service on March 2, 2026. This is part of a larger content rotation that will see numerous other television series and popular films removed from the platform throughout the month. Among the notable films leaving are Academy Award winners like *Forrest Gump*, *The Hurt Locker*, and *Titanic*. Popular movie franchises such as *Ace Ventura* and *The Amazing Spider-Man* are also on the list of titles being removed. This monthly cycling of content is a standard practice for streaming services, dictated by the terms and expiration of licensing deals with various studios and content owners. After leaving Netflix, shows and movies often become available on other platforms, as was the case with the popular sitcom *New Girl*, which moved to Hulu and Peacock in April 2023 after a decade on Netflix.
