Kanye's Vultures 2 Reviews
Kanye West's collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign, "Vultures 2," has generated significant buzz with multiple YouTube reviewers dissecting its artistic direction. Critics highlight both standout tracks and controversial choices, with the album potentially polarizing listeners despite innovative soundscapes.
*Vultures 2*, the second installment in a planned trilogy by Ye and Ty Dolla $ign, saw a surprise release on August 3, 2024, after missing its initial March 8 and May 3 deadlines. The project was independently released under West's YZY brand and features a wide array of guest artists, including Lil Wayne, Future, Young Thug, Playboi Carti, and West's daughters, North and Chicago. Upon release, the album was largely panned by music critics, who pointed to an unfinished sound, muddy vocals, and incomplete musical ideas. Listeners and critics also noted the alleged use of artificial intelligence for some of West's vocals on tracks like "Field Trip" and "Sky City." Following its debut, West continuously updated the album's tracks in real-time on streaming services. The album debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart, blocked from the top spot by Taylor Swift's *The Tortured Poets Department*. It sold 107,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, a figure lower than the 148,000 units sold by its predecessor, *Vultures 1*. The album did, however, top the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Similar to the first installment, *Vultures 2* was immediately embroiled in controversy over unauthorized samples. Portishead co-founder Geoff Barrow and artist Swsh both claimed their music was used without permission on the tracks "Field Trip" and "530" respectively. The estate of Donna Summer and Ozzy Osbourne had previously sued or criticized West for similar issues on *Vultures 1*.
