New Dive Bar to Open in San Francisco
The owners of Outta Sight pizza are set to open a new dive bar named Reggie & Maude’s in San Francisco. The bar will replace an existing dive bar that is closing. This move adds a new venue to the city's hospitality scene.
- The owners of Outta Sight pizza, Eric Ehler and Peter Dorrance, both have a background in fine dining, having met while working at the Michelin-starred restaurant Mister Jiu's. - Reggie & Maude's is named after Reggie Gamble and Maude Spencer, two madams who were prominent leaders in the sex workers' rights movement in San Francisco's Tenderloin district in 1917. - The new bar will be located at 460 Larkin St., just steps away from the owners' Tenderloin pizzeria, in a space that has housed a bar since at least 1979. - The location's previous tenant was Pomeroy Bar and Grill, which opened in 2020 and was known for hosting live music in an adjacent alley. Prior to that, it was known as Harrington's Pub. - Ehler and Dorrance plan to expand the kitchen, install a new hood, and make the bathroom accessible, with an anticipated opening in the summer of 2026. - The owners have expressed a strong commitment to the Tenderloin neighborhood, where they opened their first permanent Outta Sight location in 2022. - While it's unclear if pizza will be on the menu, the owners aim to offer "top-tier" but simple and affordable bar food. - Outta Sight started as a pop-up in 2020 before opening its first brick-and-mortar location in 2022 and has since expanded to a second location in Chinatown.
