Kusama’s Infinity Room

Yayoi Kusama’s 'Infinity Mirrored Room' continues to mesmerize visitors at Cologne’s Museum Ludwig — recent previews show audiences immersed in her reflective-dot universe. It’s a compact, high-demand experience for Kusama fans traveling to Europe this spring. (watoday.com.au)

Museum Ludwig’s Kusama retrospective runs March 14–August 2, 2026 and assembles “more than three hundred” works spanning painting, sculpture, installation, performance and literature as part of the museum’s 50th‑anniversary program. (museum-ludwig.de) The show includes a newly commissioned immersive installation that incorporates an Infinity Mirror Room and is installed in the museum’s largest hall rather than in a separate small gallery. (museum-ludwig.de) The exhibition was curated by Stephan Diederich and was produced in collaboration with other European venues that hosted the project earlier in the season, including Fondation Beyeler in Basel. (artdaily.com) Museum Ludwig requires all visitors to buy an online timed ticket for the Kusama exhibition, recommends allowing 1.5 hours for a visit, and states that admission is valid for up to 30 minutes after the start of the booked hour. (museum-ludwig.de) A press conference and preview were held on March 12, 2026 with photographers on site; Associated Press imagery from that preview (photographer Martin Meissner) has circulated widely in international coverage. (museum-ludwig.de) Museum materials note the show will extend into the building’s rooftop terraces and present early, rarely seen pieces such as “Aggregation: One Thousand Boats Show” (1963) alongside the new Infinity Mirror Room.
