Unisys and Dell Enhance Service for Edge Computing
Unisys is advancing its Device Subscription Service in collaboration with Dell Technologies. The partnership aims to provide organizations with more agile solutions for complex edge computing and Internet of Things (IoT) deployments. The enhanced service is intended to support smarter digital workplace solutions.
- This partnership builds on a collaboration of over 30 years, with Unisys holding the status of a Dell Titanium Partner, and the two companies jointly developing solutions for Zero Trust security, AI innovation, and private cloud managed services. - The service will manage Dell's portfolio of edge hardware, which includes ruggedized Edge Gateway systems like the 3000 and 5000 series designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -30°C to 70°C. - Dell's edge hardware provides expanded I/O capabilities critical for embedded systems, including dual independent Gigabit Ethernet, serial interfaces (RS-232, RS-485, RS-422), and optional CAN bus cards. - The collaboration is geared towards managing edge devices running computer vision and machine intelligence workloads, leveraging Intel Vision Products and the OpenVINO™ toolkit for analytics and AI. - Enhanced capabilities of the subscription service include AI-driven automation for support, proactive endpoint security, and real-time analytics across the deployed fleet of devices. - Security for the managed endpoints is addressed through the integration of Unisys Stealth™, a solution that applies Zero Trust principles to protect devices. - The scope of the Device Subscription Service (DSS) is explicitly designed to extend beyond PCs to a wide array of edge and IoT devices, such as industrial sensors and other specialized hardware. - The service model provides a unified management framework for organizations with multiple subsidiaries, aiming to standardize device deployment, security, and lifecycle management globally while allowing for local flexibility.
