Sandbar Smart Ring Gets $23M Series A

Sandbar, the company behind the note-taking smart ring Stream, just raised a $23M Series A [https://x.com/i/status/2031350802930110749]. The Stream ring is slated to launch in summer 2026. I wonder how it stacks up against existing smart rings.

The $23M Series A, led by Kindred Ventures, brings Sandbar's total funding to $36M after previous rounds backed by True Ventures, Upfront Ventures, and Betaworks. The company, founded by ex-Meta employees Mina Fahmi and Kirak Hong, plans to use the funds to expand its engineering and product teams. Sandbar aims to ship the Stream ring this summer. Stream distinguishes itself from other smart rings by focusing on AI interaction rather than health tracking. The ring allows users to capture voice notes, chat with an AI assistant, and control media playback. A key feature is its privacy-focused design: the microphone is off by default and activates only when the user presses a touch panel. The Stream ring will be available for preorder in silver ($249) or gold ($299). It includes a trial of Stream Pro, with a subscription cost of $10/month for early users. Sandbar envisions Stream evolving into an agentic AI tool capable of taking action, expanding beyond a simple memory aid.
