BTS Suga Celebrates 33rd
BTS's Suga celebrated his 33rd birthday with massive fan support generating 42k likes, highlighting his 4 billion+ Spotify streams and status as having the highest-grossing Korean solo tour. Fans also celebrated his philanthropy alongside his musical achievements. The milestone comes as BTS members continue pursuing individual projects while maintaining their global fanbase.
Suga's recent birthday marks a period of transition as he completes his mandatory military service as a social service agent, a role assigned due to a past shoulder surgery. He began his service on September 22, 2023, and is expected to be discharged on June 21, 2025. His solo album, "D-DAY," released under his alias Agust D, achieved significant commercial success prior to his enlistment. The album sold over 1.07 million copies on its first day, according to Hanteo Chart data, and debuted at number 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. This tied him with bandmate Jimin for the highest-charting South Korean solo artist. The accompanying "SUGA | Agust D TOUR 'D-DAY'" spanned 28 shows across North America and Asia, attracting over 330,000 attendees. The tour grossed a total of $57.2 million, setting a new record for the highest-grossing tour by a Korean soloist. Beyond his music, Suga has made substantial philanthropic contributions. He recently donated 5 billion won (approximately $3.6 million) to Severance Hospital in Seoul to establish the Min Yoongi Treatment Center for children with autism spectrum disorder. He also participated in developing a music-based therapy program for the center. Suga is the final member of BTS to complete his military service. His discharge in mid-2025 will clear the path for the group's anticipated full reunion and new projects slated for 2026.
