Anthropic design tool rumor
Reports say Anthropic plans to release Claude Opus 4.7 together with a new AI web‑design tool that can generate websites from text prompts, pushing into territory occupied by Figma and website builders. Market reaction to the report included share movements for companies tied to design and site-building tools. ((techbriefly.com))
Anthropic is reportedly preparing a new Claude model and a prompt-based web design product that could ship as soon as this week. (theinformation.com) The Information reported on April 15 that Anthropic plans to release Claude Opus 4.7 alongside a tool that can generate websites and presentations from natural-language prompts. The report said both products could arrive “as soon as this week.” (theinformation.com) Anthropic has not announced Opus 4.7 on its newsroom page as of April 16. Its most recent flagship launch there is Claude Opus 4.6, announced on February 5, 2026. (anthropic.com 1) (anthropic.com 2) A prompt-to-website tool turns a plain-language request into page layouts, text blocks, and publishable site code. Figma already sells that category through Figma Make, which says users can build responsive, interactive sites from natural-language prompts with no coding required. (figma.com) Figma also runs Figma Sites, a product for designing, prototyping, and publishing websites inside the same platform. That means Anthropic would be moving beyond model APIs and chatbots into software used for design and web publishing. (figma.com) Investors treated the report as a threat to existing design and site-building companies. Investing.com said Figma fell 6% on April 15 after the report, and said Wix also traded lower. (finance.yahoo.com) The rumor landed during a fast release cycle for Anthropic’s developer products. Anthropic’s API release notes on April 14 said the company is retiring older Claude Opus 4 and Sonnet 4 models on June 15 and recommends newer Opus 4.6 and Sonnet 4.6 instead. (platform.claude.com) Opus 4.6 already pushed Claude deeper into work software. Anthropic said the February release added “adaptive thinking,” effort controls, and a research preview for Claude in PowerPoint, while its model page says Opus 4.6 supports a one-million-token context window in beta on the Claude Platform. (anthropic.com 1) (anthropic.com 2) Anthropic has also been expanding coding tools around Claude. Its public GitHub repository describes Claude Code as a terminal-based agent that can understand a codebase, execute routine tasks, and handle Git workflows through natural-language commands. (github.com) If the reported launch happens, Anthropic would be testing whether users want one system to write copy, generate code, mock up a page, and publish it. By April 16, the company had not publicly confirmed that plan. (theinformation.com) (anthropic.com)
