Neural Earth Raises $9M for Geospatial AI

Miami-based Neural Earth has closed an oversubscribed $9M seed round to advance its AI-powered geospatial intelligence platform. The company is focused on analyzing climate risk for the insurance and real estate industries, marking another significant investment in the climate tech space.

The seed round for Neural Earth was three times oversubscribed, indicating significant investor confidence in the company's approach to tackling climate-driven risk. This funding will be used to hire more data scientists and engineers, expand their market presence, and initiate discussions for a Series A funding round. The investment comes from strategic backers within the insurance, real estate, and technology sectors, validating the platform's real-time, AI-driven approach to risk intelligence. The company was co-founded in 2022 by CEO Blair Austin Childs and CTO Dan Lopez. Childs brings a background in finance and M&A, having previously worked at firms like Kaufman Hall and Berkeley Research Group. Lopez is a serial entrepreneur with a history in the geospatial and space technology sectors, including co-founding Radiant Earth and holding a C-suite position at Arkisys. Neural Earth's platform is designed to unify and analyze complex data from various sources, including satellite imagery, environmental sensors, and other proprietary datasets. This allows insurers and real estate firms to move beyond traditional, often outdated, risk assessment models that are struggling to keep up with increasing climate volatility. The system provides AI-powered risk scoring for specific perils like floods, wildfires, and wind, offering a more granular, property-level view of potential exposures. For the insurance industry, the platform aims to enhance underwriting precision and help in more accurately pricing policies by providing a clearer understanding of the actual risk to a specific property. In real estate, it assists institutional investors in quantifying their portfolio's exposure to climate-driven events and making more informed decisions about acquisitions and asset management. The ultimate goal is to provide actionable insights in seconds, a process that could traditionally take weeks.
