Tampa Bay Rays Announce Tropicana Field Upgrades
The Tampa Bay Rays are rolling out major premium upgrades to Tropicana Field before the team returns to St. Petersburg for the new season. The enhancements are designed to improve the fan experience ahead of their home opener on April 6.
These privately funded upgrades are distinct from the nearly $60 million in renovations recently completed by the city of St. Petersburg. That larger project focused on essential repairs after Hurricane Milton, including a new roof, new artificial turf, and restored stadium lighting, getting the facility ready for the Rays' return. The premium upgrades are part of a push by the team's new ownership to elevate the fan experience. Among the changes are a full transformation of the DEX Imaging Home Plate Club, which will now feature a speakeasy-style lounge and a specialty candy room. The Baldwin Group Club on the fourth floor has also been redesigned with new flooring, an expanded video wall, and upgraded food and beverage stations. These renovations come as the Rays return to Tropicana Field after playing their 2025 home games at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa. The temporary relocation was necessary due to the extensive damage the dome sustained during Hurricane Milton in October 2024, which shredded the original fabric roof. The current upgrades are happening independently of the team's ongoing search for a permanent new home. The Rays' lease at Tropicana Field runs through the 2027 season, and the team has been actively exploring sites for a new ballpark on both sides of Tampa Bay, with the goal of opening a new facility by the 2029 season.
