Vantiq & SmartGate Partner in Korea
AI firm Vantiq and SmartGate have announced a strategic partnership to bring real-time AI orchestration to Korean enterprises. The collaboration will target the manufacturing, healthcare, smart city, and logistics sectors in South Korea.
Vantiq, the US-firm in the partnership, specializes in a low-code platform for building real-time, event-driven applications. Its technology is designed to orchestrate and automate responses to complex events by processing data from IoT sensors and AI systems in real-time. This collaboration isn't Vantiq's first high-stakes venture. The company has previously partnered with the Mayo Clinic on a "Smart Ambulance" initiative and with NTT Data in Japan to create "D-Resilio," an AI-driven system that uses real-time data to manage evacuations during natural disasters. The partnership enters South Korea at a time of massive government-led AI investment. The nation has launched an "economic blueprint" focused on AI and a "Manufacturing AI Transformation" (M.AX) initiative, which aims to establish 500 AI-powered factories by 2030. Despite these ambitions, a 2025 survey revealed that only 6.9% of Korean manufacturers have actually implemented AI, citing funding gaps and a lack of expertise as major hurdles. This highlights the market need for platforms that can simplify and accelerate AI adoption. The smart city sector is another key target, where South Korea is a global pioneer with over 70 projects in progress nationwide. Flagship developments in cities like Sejong and Busan are integrating AI for everything from shared mobility and healthcare to emergency response. In healthcare, the South Korean government has a dedicated national AI strategy and is funding projects to develop its own medical large language models. AI is already being deployed for advanced medical image analysis and to predict the risk of events like cardiac arrest. The logistics industry in South Korea is also undergoing a significant AI-driven transformation. The government's "Smart Logistics Innovation Strategy" supports the integration of AI and IoT to optimize supply chains, automate warehouses, and improve delivery route planning.
