New AI Control Plane for Enterprise Launched

One Intelligence (1-i.ai) has launched its AI Control Plane, a unified platform for enterprises to build and manage AI applications. The tool is designed to accelerate development while providing governance, model routing, and cost visibility by default, addressing key operational challenges in production AI.

The widespread struggle to scale AI initiatives beyond pilot programs has created a significant market opportunity for new infrastructure layers. A majority of enterprise AI projects fail to produce value at scale, often due to a disconnect between business goals and technology, fragmented data systems, and weak governance over autonomous systems. These failures aren't typically caused by poor AI models, but by the lack of a managed execution layer to ensure predictable and compliant behavior in a live business environment. This challenge has given rise to the "AI Control Plane," a centralized governance and operations layer that sits between AI agents and a company's core systems. Think of it as an operating system or command center for enterprise AI, managing how autonomous systems behave, what data they can access, and what actions they are permitted to take. This architectural separation of intelligence (the model) from discipline (the control plane) is critical for moving AI from assistance to execution. For a product manager, the core functions of a control plane address key enterprise risks. These platforms are designed to provide standardized telemetry and audit trails for compliance, enforce security policies in real-time to prevent data leakage or improper actions, and offer continuous monitoring of costs and model performance. This addresses major regulatory pressures like the EU AI Act and the need for auditable evidence of AI governance. The emergence of the AI control plane is a direct response to the evolution of AI from chatbots to autonomous agents that can execute code, update CRM records, and trigger workflows. As these agents become first-class actors within a business, a control plane provides the guardrails and observability necessary to trust them at scale. Companies like Fiddler AI and Upbound are also building solutions in this space, signaling a new, critical category of enterprise infrastructure.
