Yellowstone, Teton, Acadia openings

Yellowstone will open two Montana entrances and several interior roads on April 17, restarting more visitor access after winter closures (wyomingpublicmedia.org). Grand Teton’s main park road is slated to open on May 1 with Gros Ventre Campground among the early facilities coming online, and Acadia’s Park Loop Road has reopened to all vehicles though one section will stay closed until June 12 except during Memorial Day weekend ( ).

Yellowstone, Grand Teton and Acadia are reopening key roads over the next two weeks, widening spring access after winter closures. (nps.gov, buckrail.com, nps.gov) Yellowstone said the North Entrance at Gardiner and the West Entrance at West Yellowstone will open at 8 a.m. on Friday, April 17, weather permitting. The park said drivers will be able to reach Mammoth Hot Springs, Lamar Valley, Norris Geyser Basin, Old Faithful, Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and the Northeast Entrance. (nps.gov) Grand Teton said Teton Park Road is scheduled to open to motor vehicles on Friday, May 1, with Gros Ventre Campground opening April 27 and the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center already on daily spring hours since April 10. (buckrail.com, nps.gov) Acadia said most of Park Loop Road reopened to motor vehicles on Wednesday, April 15. A section between Kebo Street and Sieur de Monts will stay closed to all uses through June 12, except during Memorial Day weekend, with a detour on Route 3. (nps.gov, nps.gov) These openings do not mean full summer operations. Yellowstone called the April 17 change part of its annual spring opening, Grand Teton said services will come online in stages, and Acadia warned visitors to expect a busy 2026 season and to plan ahead. (nps.gov, buckrail.com, nps.gov) The staggered schedule reflects how these parks manage snow, thaw and road work. Grand Teton opened its 14-mile Teton Park Road to walkers and cyclists in late March before cars, and Acadia said spring construction is limiting access on part of its main scenic drive. (wyomingpublicmedia.org, nps.gov) Yellowstone’s April opening is also narrower than peak season. The park said the spring route is limited to roads reached from the north and west sides, with additional entrances and roads opening later on a rolling schedule if conditions allow. (nps.gov) Acadia is layering road access with reservation rules. The park said vehicle reservations for Cadillac Summit Road will be required from May 20 through October 26, and the summit road is closed through May 19 for construction. (nps.gov) For travelers, the calendar now turns on exact dates: April 15 for most of Acadia’s Park Loop Road, April 17 for Yellowstone’s north and west gateways, and May 1 for Grand Teton’s main park road.
