GenFlux Raises $4.2M for 'AI SEO'
Startup GenFlux has raised $4.2 million to help brands optimize their content for AI-generated answers. The funding highlights a new market for "AI-native SEO," as companies race to control how they appear in chatbots and search summaries.
The new funding for GenFlux was led by Symbolic Capital, with additional investment from Borderless Capital, Frachtis, Glasswing Ventures, Dispersion Capital, Delphi Ventures, and Radical Ventures. The Denver-based startup will use the capital to expand its engineering team, launch a self-service platform, and increase its market presence in the United States and Europe. GenFlux is focused on what it calls "Answer Engine Optimization" (AEO) and "Generative Engine Optimization" (GEO). These new approaches to search marketing aim to make brands more visible in the answers provided by AI chatbots like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini. The company's platform allows brands to track their mentions across multiple AI models in real-time. The company's platform includes a proprietary "Answer Rank Scoring" system that measures how prominently a brand appears in AI-generated responses compared to its competitors. It also features "Query Intelligence," which helps brands identify the specific questions and prompts that lead to their mention in AI answers. The emergence of AI-driven search presents a significant challenge for brands, as over 40% of Gen Z now use AI tools as their primary search interface. In this new landscape, if a brand isn't directly recommended by an AI, it is effectively invisible to a growing segment of consumers. A partner at lead investor Symbolic Capital noted, "In the age of AI search, there are no blue links — your brand either gets recommended or it doesn't." GenFlux aims to provide the necessary tools for brands to succeed in this new environment.
