Nine Injured After Minivan Hits Crowd in LA
Nine people were injured in downtown Los Angeles after a minivan struck a crowd. The incident is currently under investigation by local authorities. The extent of the victims' injuries has not yet been fully detailed.
The crash occurred around 3:15 p.m. on a Sunday at the entrance to Santee Alley, a bustling open-air shopping corridor in the Fashion District. The area is a popular weekend destination, typically crowded with shoppers and families. Among the nine people injured were three boys, aged 8, 11, and 17. The other victims included four women aged 30, 54, and 65. All of the hospitalized victims were reported to be in fair condition. Two 23-year-old women who were also assessed at the scene were released against medical advice. The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed there were no fatalities and no patients considered to be in critical condition at the time of transport. The silver minivan involved in the incident veered off the road and struck several large concrete barriers before hitting the pedestrians. The impact also caused a patio awning to partially collapse onto the vehicle. The Los Angeles Police Department is handling the investigation. Investigators have stated they do not believe the crash was intentional, and neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected to be contributing factors. According to some reports, the driver may have swerved to avoid another vehicle before hitting the crowd.
