New Scholarships for CA Colleges
California is connecting 40,000 community college students with $20M in CalKIDS scholarships [https://www.loscerritosnews.net/2026/03/11/treasurer-fiona-ma-announces-statewide-effort-connecting-40000-california-community-college-students-to-20-million-in-available-calkids-scholarships/]. How do students apply for these scholarships?
Students can visit CalKIDS.org to confirm their eligibility and claim their scholarship funds. To claim the funds, students need their Statewide Student Identifier (SSID), a ten-digit number that can be found on their high school transcript or by contacting their former high school. California community college districts are also using the Data on Demand platform to identify enrolled students with CalKIDS scholarships. Colleges will then conduct targeted outreach through campus communication channels to make sure students know about the money available to them. Eligible California public school students automatically receive up to $1,500 in CalKIDS scholarships. These funds can be used for qualified educational expenses until the age of 26 at community colleges, universities, vocational, and professional schools. CalKIDS is a statewide automatic scholarship program created to expand access to college and career training. The program has supported nearly 70,000 students with over $37 million for expenses at community colleges across the state since it launched in 2022.
