MagicBlock Introduces Ephemeral Rollups for Solana

MagicBlock has introduced Ephemeral Rollups, a new solution designed to achieve sub-50ms latency on Solana for applications in AI, social media, and gaming. The technology uses Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) for privacy and operates without requiring bridges or a new token. This infrastructure aims to support high-performance, confidential applications directly on the Solana network.

MagicBlock is backed by significant venture capital, having raised a total of $10.5 million. This includes a $7.5 million seed round led by Lightspeed Faction with participation from Delphi Digital, Mechanism Capital, and notable angels like Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko. An earlier $3 million pre-seed round was led by a16z CSX in September 2024. The core technology, pioneered by co-founders Andrea Fortugno (CEO) and Gabriele Picco (CTO), temporarily delegates state execution from Solana's main layer to a dedicated, high-speed Solana Virtual Machine (SVM) instance. This process allows for faster, specialized transaction processing before settling the updated state back to the L1, avoiding ecosystem fragmentation. MagicBlock has announced plans for a native token, $BLOCK, with a total supply of 10 billion. The tokenomics allocate 35% to the community, 15% to node operators, 20% to investors, 18% to the team, and 12% to an ecosystem fund. A presale was scheduled for February 2026, with a public Token Generation Event (TGE) expected between the end of Q1 and the beginning of Q2 2026. The project has already established key partnerships within the Solana ecosystem to showcase its capabilities. Collaborations include Flash Trade for decentralized derivatives, Pyth for 1-millisecond price feeds, Jito for validator security, and dTelecom for low-latency communication services. Initially conceived to solve scalability in blockchain gaming, MagicBlock's scope has expanded to DeFi, AI-driven dApps, and other high-performance applications. The technology enables app-specific plugins for features like custom transaction sequencing and permissioned environments, offering performance akin to a Web2 server while maintaining full on-chain composability. Since launching its MagicNet in June 2025, the platform has processed over 1.1 billion transactions from 27,000 unique addresses, demonstrating significant early traction. The Ephemeral Rollups can be customized for gasless transactions and faster block times, aiming to provide a seamless user experience.
