BVU Esports went 7-0 in NECC play, including a 2-1 Valorant win with maps scores of 12-14, 13-4, and 13-11. Roosevelt Lakers Esports swept CoD matches 3-0 against Rockford Rams and Northern Iowa, won Valorant 2-1 vs. Fisher White, and placed 11th in Apex with 24 points.
Buena Vista's Valorant team is on an undefeated streak, recently improving to 5-0 in the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC). In a recent 2-0 victory against the South Dakota School of Mines, Khoua Xiong led the Beavers with 24 kills in the first game and 26 in the second, while teammate Will Roland added 23 kills in the first game and Angel Lopez contributed 21 in the second. This string of victories is part of a broader success for BVU's esports program, which also has undefeated teams in Smash Gold and Rainbow Six. The Roosevelt Lakers' Call of Duty team is competing in the College CoD League (CCL), which features a two-phase, 16-game season. The season is divided into four regions, with teams playing within their division for the first five weeks before a divisional restructure based on team records for the remaining three weeks. Following the regular season, the top teams will advance to regional playoffs. The Lakers' recent victory in Valorant over Fisher White adds to the program's successful track record. The university's esports program has a history of strong performances, including their League of Legends team securing the ECAC Titans Division title with a 3-1 win over Ball State. That championship run included six consecutive wins in the group stage. In Apex Legends, Roosevelt competes in the ECAC, which hosts a seven-week regular season followed by a playoff period. The league's scoring system in the final rounds often utilizes a "Match Point" format, where teams must reach a certain point threshold to become "Match Point Eligible" and then win a subsequent match to be declared the champion. Points are awarded based on placement and total team kills in each match.
