Veracity Research Sued for Allegedly Denying Meal Breaks

Employment law attorneys have filed a suit against Veracity Research Co., LLC, alleging the company failed to provide employees with legally required meal and rest breaks. The lawsuit claims this resulted in employees being underpaid because their work time was not accurately accounted for.

The class action lawsuit against Veracity Research Co., LLC is specifically identified as Case No. 30-2025-01533351-CU-OE-CXC, filed in the Orange County Superior Court of California. This provides a formal legal context for the allegations beyond the initial press release. Under California law, non-exempt employees are entitled to a 30-minute, unpaid meal break for any workday exceeding five hours. For shifts longer than 10 hours, a second 30-minute meal break is required. The lawsuit alleges that Veracity Research failed to provide these mandated breaks. The state also mandates paid rest breaks of at least 10 consecutive minutes for every four hours worked. For a standard eight-hour shift, this typically means two separate rest breaks in addition to the meal period. The suit claims these rest periods were also not provided to employees. Failure to comply with these regulations can result in significant financial penalties for employers. Companies are required to pay an employee one additional hour of their regular pay for each day a meal break violation occurs, and another extra hour of pay for each day a rest break is missed. The law firm representing the employees, Blumenthal Nordrehaug Bhowmik De Blouw LLP, specializes in employment law and has a history of filing similar lawsuits against companies for alleged labor code violations. While not all directly related to the lawsuit's specific claims, online reviews from individuals identifying as Veracity Research employees have previously indicated dissatisfaction with the company's pay, benefits, and work-life balance.
