This campaign on Backerkit, for "Hoid's Storybook Collection," launched on March 3 and quickly surpassed its initial $1 million goal. It's slated to run through March 27. The collection features four illustrated editions of fables told by the character Hoid throughout Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere universe. Sanderson has said that the presentation of each book is unique to the story it tells. Backers also have the option to purchase a special edition of "The Fires of December," a new Cosmere novel scheduled for release on December 8, 2026. This book is part of the "Hoid's Travails" series, which includes "Tress of the Emerald Sea" and "Yumi and the Nightmare Painter". Sanderson has a history of successful crowdfunding campaigns. In 2022, his Kickstarter campaign for four secret novels raised $41 million. In August 2024, his Cosmere RPG raised over $15 million.
