SF's Hunt & Gather Relocates Downtown

San Francisco business Hunt & Gather, formerly located in the Sunset district, has secured a new lease downtown. The move marks a new chapter for the local establishment, though specific plans for the new space have not yet been announced.

Hunt & Gather is a creative business incubator, seasonal art gallery, and community hub founded by DeeDee Hunt. For three years, it operated at 1108 Irving St. in the Inner Sunset, where Hunt also initiated the Inner Sunset Art Walk to boost local foot traffic. The move was precipitated by a sudden doubling of the rent at its former location. The business has secured a new home at The Market, the food hall located below the former Twitter headquarters at 1355 Market Street. This move marks a significant scaling up for the establishment, which had previously hosted successful pop-ups at the same location, with one event drawing over 800 RSVPs. In its new downtown space, Hunt & Gather will take over a bar and introduce a menu of tea-based non-alcoholic drinks, or "botanical elixirs." The venue will continue its tradition of hosting seasonal art exhibitions, staying true to its mission of supporting and showcasing local artists and makers. A grand opening celebration is slated for April 17. The relocation of Hunt & Gather is part of a broader trend of new businesses moving into downtown San Francisco. This influx is supported by various city-led revitalization efforts, including initiatives to fill vacant storefronts and make it easier for new businesses to open. These programs aim to restore vibrancy to an area that saw a significant decline in foot traffic and a rise in vacancies.
